Job Description: Sidewalks Crew Member (Snow Shoveler)
Reports to: Crew Leader and Area Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Crew Leader and/or Area Supervisor, the Sidewalks Crew Member will provide services to commercial customers by the proper and timely execution of snow removal functions in the winter months.
This position requires the successful applicant to work on an on-call basis with irregular hours between mid-November and the end of March each year. Applicants must be available and committed to work with very short notice at all times of the day and night using a variety of tools and equipment listed below.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ø Must be on-call/standby and available 24/7 for snow and ice events.
Ø Must have exceptional attendance and reliability.
Ø Must have own transportation to reach our location or jobsite.
Ø Must work well under pressure, pay attention to all details, and cooperate with team members in accomplishing a common goal.
Ø Clear and maintain walkways, outdoor staircases, and parking lots, by shoveling, using snowplow equipment, and hand salting in all conditions, especially heavy snowfall.
Ø Clear and/or pile snow in designated and approved locations only.
Ø Must be able to perform physical work duties for extended periods of time.
Ø Must be able to offer professional and friendly service.
Ø Document and report any obstacles, potential hazards, and snow and ice control problems at site(s).
Ø Follow all Health and Safety regulations including safe operation of trucks and equipment, routine circle check inspections, and wearing required personal protective equipment.

EDUCATION
Education Required: Highschool Diploma or equivalent
Other Education/Certification/Training preferred: Licenses as required by Federal and Provincial laws, clean drivers abstract, Reliability clearance an asset

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ø Extremely flexible and long working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ø Must be able to lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.
Ø Must be able to perform physical duties for up to 12 hours; longer hours may be required for larger storms.
Ø Must frequently work outside in weather various conditions. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or cold conditions, fumes, or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Ø Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
